Goodness…what an up week this week for grains and oilseeds: USA corn was up by almost USD 10 m/t, soybeans moved higher by close to USD 15 m/t while soymeal saw a jump of close to USD 30 m/t. This week, the pre-WASDE week, was a down week for almost all USA grain and oilseed prices. Corn prices dropped by about USD 6 m/t with soybeans down by around USD 15 m/t. So, how did we do this week --- well, corn prices in the US moved about USD 12 m/t higher with soybeans up by about USD 7 m/t, soymeal up be close to USD 7 m/t and all US wheat moving higher, especially spring wheat which was up by about USD 15 m/t with winter wheat up by closer to USD 6 m/t.....please click PDF to see more details

USA wheat prices were strong this week with winter wheat up by USD 8 to 10 m/t and spring wheat up by even more at about USD 15 m/t higher. Soybeans seemed to be the weakest item in the grain/oilseed markets this week – down by about USD 10 m/t until Friday when things moved up a little and the week finished with soybean down by about USD 8 m/t. Harvest weather in the USA looks good for the next little while which should get the farmers really cranking out the crop. The markets ended the week a little lower as harvest pressure tried to push prices down.

The USDA WASDE report was a bit of a non-even this week as grain/oilseed markets are still trying to deal with the aftermath of the “Ida” situation.
