PRODUCE authorizes the start of the second season of anchovy fishing for the Southern Zone

The maximum allowable catch limit in the southern zone of the anchoveta and white anchovy resource for indirect human consumption is 515,000 tonnes, as established by PRODUCE.

The Ministry of Production (Produce) authorized the start of the second season of fishing for the anchovy and white anchovy in the southern part of the country, specifically in the maritime area between 16º 00'LS and the southern end, for the period July - December this year.

Through a supreme decree, it is explained that the second season will run from 00:00 hours on the fourth working day counted from the day after the publication of the rule, being the date of conclusion, once the total maximum limit of Allowable catch, on December 31 of this year.

 

The completion date, detailed the standard, may be extended or reduced in function to environmental biological conditions or reduced according to environmental biological conditions, following a report from the Institute of the Sea of ​​Peru (IMARPE)

Another detail of the legal provision is that the total limit of allowable catch of the southern zone of the anchovy and white anchovy resource for indirect human consumption is 515,000 tons.

Only fishing vessels, fishing vessels registered and authorized to carry out extractive activities during the current fishing season, must comply with the Maximum Capture Limit per vessel in the southern zone.

Finally, when the catch of the anchovy fleet reaches the maximum permissible catch limit for southern areas (515,000 tonnes), the extractive activities will be suspended; Without prejudice to establishing the administrative and / or criminal responsibility of the owners of those vessels that had made catches above the maximum catch limit per vessel in the southern zone.

In addition, the Ministry of Production established the provisional fishery for the hake resource between July 2017 and June 2018, from 00:00 hours from July 1 to June 30, 2018, in the maritime area from the northern end Of the maritime domain and 07º00 'south latitude.

According to another supreme decree, it is established that the maximum allowable total catch limit is 64,164 tons until June 30, 2018.
