Second Anchovy Fishing Season begins November 16

From 00 hours on Saturday, November 16, the second anchovy industrial fishing season of 2019 will begin in the north-central area of ​​Peru.


This was established by the Ministry of Production (Produce), through Ministerial Resolution 483-2019, which defines the quota for extracting the precious resource at 2 million 786 thousand tons.
 

The deadline for extraction will culminate once the maximum authorized permissible catch limit has been reached, or failing that, when recommended by the Institute of the Sea of ​​Peru (Imarpe).


Anchovy fishing will take place in the area between the north end of the national maritime domain and the 16 ° 00 'South Latitude.


Only fishing vessels registered and authorized to carry out extractive activities during this fishing season may carry out fishing activities under this ministerial resolution.


The Produce ordered that the extraction and / or processing of anchovy and white anchovy specimens with sizes smaller than those provided for in current regulations be prohibited, allowing a maximum tolerance of 10% expressed in number of copies.


When juvenile anchovy specimens are extracted in percentages greater than 10% of the daily landings of a given port, fishing activities, mainly extractive activities, shall be suspended for a minimum period of three consecutive days of fishing or occurrence areas, if these volumes of landings could affect the population development of the mentioned resource.
