The Ministry of Production (Produce) today authorized the Institute of the Sea of Peru (Imarpe) to carry out exploratory fishing for anchovy in the north-central zone of the Peruvian sea, and also for bonito in the maritime area adjacent to the department of Ica .

 

Through Ministerial Resolution No. 000262-2023-PRODUCE, published today in the extraordinary edition of the Legal Standards Bulletin of the official newspaper El Peruano, Imarpe is authorized to carry out exploratory fishing for the anchovy (Engraulis ringens) and white anchovy resource (Anchoa nasus) in the North Zone - Center of the Peruvian sea.

 

To this end, the use of larger-scale purse seine fishing vessels is authorized, starting at 00:00 hours on the day after the publication of this Ministerial Resolution for a period of up to 10 consecutive calendar days, in the following maritime areas:

 

i) Between 4°00'S - 6°59'S out of 5 nautical miles from the coast.

ii) Between 7°00'S - 9°29'S outside 20 nautical miles from the coast.

iii) Between 9°30'S - 10°59'S outside 5 nautical miles from the coast.

iv) Between 11°00'S - 13°59'S outside 20 nautical miles from the coast.

v) Between 14°00'S - 15°59'S outside 5 nautical miles from the coast.

 

IMARPE, within four business days after exploratory fishing is completed, submits the final report with the results obtained to the General Directorate of Policies and Regulatory Analysis in Fisheries and Aquaculture for the adoption of necessary measures.

 

Bonito exploratory fishing

 

On the other hand, through Ministerial Resolution No. 000263-2023-PRODUCE published today in the extraordinary edition of the Legal Standards Bulletin of the official newspaper El Peruano, Imarpe is authorized to carry out exploratory fishing for the bonito resource (Sarda chiliensis chiliensis ) in the maritime area adjacent to the department of Ica, according to the following schedule:

 

a) August: from 7 to 13.

b) September: from 11 to 17.

c) October: from 9 to 15.

d) November: from 6 to 12.

e) December: from 11 to 17.

 

The exploratory fishing of the bonito resource (Sarda chiliensis chiliensis), authorized in this Ministerial Resolution, is applicable to shipowners who have a valid fishing permit to operate artisanal purse seine vessels of up to 10 m3 and vessels that use curtain nets in Ica department.

 

Likewise, the publication of the ministerial resolutions was ordered in the digital headquarters of the Ministry of Production ('www.gob.pe/produce'), the same day of its publication in the official newspaper El Peruano.
