Today the Ministry of Production officially decreed by ministerial resolution N° 015-020-PRODUCE the end of the second fishing season 2019 for the Northern central zone.

The decision to close the season was based on the considerations given by IMARPE. where the institute advises the high presence of juvenile population. this measures is taken in order to assure the sustainability of the resource.

Before the warming produced by the Kelvin waves and the weak presence of the South Pacific anticyclone, which has varied the distribution of the anchovy resource, the Ministry of Production (Produce), through Imarpe, begins a scientific exploration today.

This exploration will seek to determine what the climatic and hydrobiological conditions of our sea are, specifically on the coast, south-central, and thus decide in a timely manner the fishery management measures in the anchovy resource.

At least 150 fishermen from Chimbote, Barranca, Huacho, Ilo and Piura have refused to embark as a protest measure to demand that the Ministry of Production (Produce) decree the closure of the second season of industrial fishing.

The seamen made a seedling at Malabrigo's dock since last Thursday and slept in this place at night as an act of rejection of the production issued by Produce on December 31.
