Quite an interesting week for prices again this week – between the USDA WASDE report and the problems in the Mississippi prices became extremely choppy. At the end of the week corn prices in the US were down by about USD 35 m/t with winter wheat down by USD 15 to 30 m/t and spring wheat down by about USD 21 m/t. Soymeal was down by close to USD 25 m/t while soybeans were the calmest in the market this week, only being down USD 4 to 6 m/t...............please click PDF to see more details

It was announced this week that shortly the last open trading pit for agricultural products at the Chicago Board of Trade (CME) will be closing. This last pit is one trading commodity options. So soon all will be done by electronics. While trading electronically probably makes much more sense it seems like a shame to have lost all the excitement of open outcry trading.......please click PDF to see more details

It was another up, up, up week again this week with corn and soybeans leading the way. Old crop USA corn prices were up by USD 33 m/t with new crop corn up by USD 7 m/t. Old crop soybeans moved higher by USD 11 m/t with new crop steady. Looking at the futures spreads, old crop USA corn is at a USD 58 m/t premium......please click PDF to see more details

How is that for an exciting week – my goodness. Nearby corn prices in the USA are up by about USD 28 m/t with new crop corn prices up by about USD 18 m/t. Soybean prices were up by almost USD 40 m/t for current business and USD 26 m/t up for new crop soybeans. Soymeal too had a strong week with most dates to the end of 2021 being up by USD 20 m/t........please click PDF to see more details

We had another up week for prices for grains and oilseeds this week ---corn prices were up by about USD 4 m/t, but new crop US corn is still at a USD 20 to 25 m/t discount to old crop. Soybeans were up by USD 11 m/t for nearby shipment with new crop US soybeans at about a USD 40 m/t discount to old crop. US winter wheat prices rallied by USD 5 to 8 m/t and spring wheat moved higher by about USD 4 m/t........please click PDF to see more details
