Instituto del Mar del Perú will carry out exploratory fishing for anchovy and bonito

The Ministry of Production (Produce) today authorized the Institute of the Sea of Peru (Imarpe) to carry out exploratory fishing for anchovy in the north-central zone of the Peruvian sea, and also for bonito in the maritime area adjacent to the department of Ica .

PRODUCE cancels first industrial fishing season

Decision is based on the high presence of juvenile anchovies. In addition, it is not ruled out that the capture of this resource will not begin in November as every year.

The Ministry of Production (Produce) not only shortened exploratory fishing two days ahead of schedule, but also decided not to start the first industrial anchovy extraction season in 2023 due to the high incidence of juveniles, which reached 86.3 %.

Produce partially suspends exploratory fishing due to high incidence of juveniles

According to the preliminary report from Imarpe, there is an incidence of juveniles of up to 50% and an increase in fishing effort has been evidenced.

Produce authorizes start of anchovy fishing season A

Lima On June 1, the Peruvian Ministry of Production issued a ministerial resolution Nº 000191-2023-PRODUCE, announcing that the maximum fishing limit for the A fishing season in the central and northern regions in 2023 will be 1,091,000 tons. it's a 60 percent reduction from last year.

According to the document N°043-2023-Produce of the Peruvian Ministry of Production, fishing in the central and northern parts of Peru in season B in 2022 will officially end at 00:00 on February 5, 2023. According to Imarpe statistics, from November 23, 2022 to January 31, 2023, the fishing volume in central and northern Peru was 1,863,834 tons, the remaining quota was 419,166 tons, and the quota fulfillment ratio was 81.64%.
